ボクシング元ヘビー級世界王者のモハメド・アリ氏が3日、アメリカ・アリゾナ州の病院で死去した。74歳だった。

1976年にアリ氏と対戦を果たした元プロレスラーで参院議員のアントニオ猪木氏（73）は4日、所属事務所を通じコメントを発表した。以下にコメント全文を紹介する。

逝去の報に接し、謹んでお悔やみ申し上げます。最近では、体調を崩されているということを聞いて心配しておりましたが、こうして、かつてのライバルたちを見送ることは非常に辛いものです。あの戦いから今年で40年。6月26日が『世界格闘技の日』と制定された矢先の訃報でしたので残念です。
